Practise Dutch for exams and everyday life
The aim of Inburgering.org is to help people settle into life in the Netherlands. The site offers newcomers practice materials for Dutch exams, alongside practical information about housing, work and everyday life.
Brazilian professionals, entrepreneurs, students and family members can also use the site in Portuguese. The resources cover language levels A1 to B2, and Inburgering.org already has more than 1,500 subscribers.
Study materials for three Dutch exams
Inburgering.org offers materials for the basic integration exam taken abroad (Basisexamen Inburgering Buitenland), the civic integration exam (inburgeringsexamen) and the Dutch as a Second Language State Exam (Staatsexamen NT2).
Exercises cover reading, listening, speaking and writing. There are also resources for knowledge of Dutch society (KNM and KNS) and Dutch labour market orientation (ONA).
Choose exercises by language level and exam component. Practice exams are timed and give you a score when you finish.
Find your starting point in the free library
The free library brings together practice exams, study materials, language games and a short level test. You can try a practice exam in reading, listening, writing, speaking or knowledge of Dutch society (KNM).
The level test helps you choose a suitable level. A practice exam then shows you which area needs more work.
Practise vocabulary and grammar with games
The free language games include hangman, crosswords, word searches, memory games and word puzzles. Other games focus on Dutch verb forms and when to use de and het.
Pick a game at your level. Try a round on the train or during your lunch break.
Free workbooks and summaries for practising on paper
The collection of free PDFs includes printable summaries and practice workbooks for different levels. Filter by reading, listening, writing, speaking, KNM or KNS. Some listening materials also include audio.
Print a workbook if you prefer writing on paper. You can use the same material with a teacher, language buddy or partner.
Practise listening with podcasts and transcripts
The free podcasts offer listening practice at A2 and B1 levels. Episodes explore everyday life, Dutch culture, history and society. The available A2 episodes include audio, a transcript and a short quiz.
Listen without the transcript first. Then read it and note any unfamiliar words. Finish with the quiz to check whether you understood the main points.
Understand the exams and what to expect
The exam articles explain exam levels, components, preparation and exam-day rules. There are separate articles on topics such as A2 Listening, B1 Writing, KNM and the Staatsexamen NT2.
The exams you need depend on your individual integration pathway. Check your letter and details in Mijn Inburgering, the online portal run by the Dutch education agency DUO. Then use the articles to prepare for the relevant exam component.
Practical guides to life in the Netherlands
The guides to life in the Netherlands cover housing, paperwork after arrival, residence permits, money, healthcare, work, family and daily life.
You will find explanations of the citizen service number (BSN), DigiD, health insurance, rental contracts, payslips and public transport. Entrepreneurs can read about working as a self-employed person without staff (zzp), taxes and Dutch business rules.

Use a PDF for a focused study session, and alternate these sessions with a language game or podcast. Turn to the exam articles and practical guides when you have a specific question.
After a few weeks, try another practice exam. Your new score will help you decide which area to work on next.
